First Class Entertainment for Macau's Titanic II Dinner

Blue Star Line Chairman Professor Clive Palmer has announced an array of entertainment will travel with him from Australia and abroad to perform for more than 500 guests at a Titanic II Gala Dinner in Macau.

Australian singers, bands and a theatre troupe will be paired with a South Korean guitarist to complete the entertainment for the evening.

Professor Palmer said it was important the entertainment at the Gala Dinner represents the entertainment that was performed on the original RMS Titanic in 1912.

“The entertainment represents both established and up and coming artists,” he said.

“This event will serve as a mark of respect to Titanic, her passengers and crew and the craftsmanship as well as look to the future and celebrate Titanic II and the relationship she will have with China.

“It is important the food, service and entertainment on the evenings reflect the elegance and grandeur that the first class passengers would have experienced on the fateful night of April 14, 1912, as well as the present day and guests aboard Titanic II.”

Legendary Australian rock singer Glenn Shorrock, Queensland’s premier Irish Band McGuinness & Co, Leonie Collins’ Titanic Performance Troupe and South Korean YouTube sensation Sungha Jung make up the entertainment for the evening.

Professor Palmer said the events will be a fantastic opportunity for the performers, old and new, to engage with new audiences.

“I have chosen up and coming performer, Sungha Jung, because I am a great supporter of young talent,” he said.

“Sungha Jung’s ability to captivate and enthral millions of viewers from his YouTube videos is tantamount to not only his musical talent but also his reference to both classical and modern pieces.

“McGuinness & Co and Leonie Collins’s Titanic Performance Troupe both performed at the ‘Titanic Culinary Journey’, which was held at the Palmer Coolum Resort on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

“McGuinness & Co entertained the guests with an assortment of Irish jigs and ballads and Leonie Collins’ Titanic themed theatre troupe’s performance of ‘A Night to Remember’ depicted a musical and theatrical account of Titanic’s guests and crew on her final night.

“Glenn Shorrock is an iconic Australian singer-songwriter who was a founding member of pop groups The Twilights, Axiom and Little River Band as well as having an established career as a solo performer and his attendance and performance in Macau will represent Titanic II’s ties with Australia.”

Titanic II, a full scale version of the original ship, is being designed by the Finnish-based Deltamarin ship design and marine engineering company and will be built by leading Chinese shipbuilders CSC Jinling Shipyard, which since 1996 has built vessels for customers from more than 20 countries.

While every bit as luxurious as the original, Titanic II will have every modern amenity along with 21st century technology and the latest navigation and safety systems. Upon completion, she is scheduled to set sail from China to Southampton in 2016 before commencing her maiden passenger voyage from Southampton to New York along her original route.

V. Ships Leisure will have the pleasure of managing the Titanic II

A little over one year to go before the great Titanic II will be launched!

Blue Star Line Chairman, Professor Clive Palmer, previously announced the appointment of V.Ships Leisure as the official ship management services partner for The Blue Star Line’s Titanic II project.

V. Ships Leisure is a key supplier of management and outsourcing services to the maritime leisure industry. It's the passenger shipping arm of V. Ships, that will take over this prestigious job.

Professor Palmer said the appointment of V. Ships Leisure further strengthened the team that had been assembled to deliver Titanic II in 2016. V. Ships Leisure is naturally pleased to be associated with Blue Star Line and Titanic II and to re-create this iconic ship

V.Ships Leisure 200 shore-based and 7,000 crew members provide services for over 100 cruise vessels, ferries and super yachts. These services are in many cases customized to meet the specific needs of clients including the ability to provide integrated deck and engine and hotel management as part of the same service offering.

Its’ parent company V. Group was formed as V. Ships in 1984 by the de-merger of the ship management division of Monaco-based shipowner, Vlasov.

Since formation, the Group has increased the range of ship management and related services offered to the shipping (www.vships.com), leisure (www.vshipsleisure.com) and offshore industries and expanded its network of offices to become a leading maritime outsourcing group of companies.

V.Group’s primary customers are ship and other asset owners who deploy their assets worldwide. These assets include tankers, bulk carriers, gas carriers, chemical tankers, FSOs/FPSOs, container-ships, cruise ships, ferries and super yachts.
Titanic II is scheduled to be launched from its construction base in China in 2016, before her maiden passenger voyage retracing its original journey from Southampton to New York.

“Titanic II will be a regular feature on the transatlantic route between the UK and USA,” Professor Palmer said. “This magnificent vessel is being constructed in memory of the heroic people who served on the first ship, as well as the passengers who sadly shared their fate.

“We also want to recognise the artists and artisans whose skill, creativity and dexterity has never been fully recognised because of the ship’s limited service.”

Titanic II Engages World's Leading Marine Architecture and Interior Design Company

Blue Star Line Pty Ltd Chairman Professor Clive Palmer has announced the shipping company has engaged Tillberg Design of Sweden to provide architectural and design services for the interior of the Titanic II project.

Blue Star Line has undertaken the task of building Titanic II, a replica of the original RMS Titanic, which is scheduled to sail from Southampton to New York on her maiden passenger voyage in 2016.

Professor Palmer said the engagement with Tillberg Design of Sweden was retained this month and includes the design of the first, second and third class accommodation, smoking room, first class lounge, Café Parisian, grand staircase and modern features on the safety deck.

Fredrik Johansson, Tillberg Design of Sweden partner and senior architect, said the Swedish company is thrilled to be associated with Blue Star Line and with this exceptionally exciting and prestigious project.

“The whole concept of building a period replica is naturally to give an experience that is as close to the original as possible,” he said.

“The fact that Blue Star Line has chosen Tillberg Design of Sweden for the design of the Titanic II is beyond our wildest dreams and a first rate vote of confidence.”

TITANIC II UPDATE: Welcome to the next edition of the Blue Star Line newsletter with all the latest updates on the Titanic II journey.

Over the last few weeks we have been working closely with our partners to ensure construction of the ship can begin on time. As reported last week, we are pleased to announce that Deltamarin have been officially engaged to oversee the project development stage of Titanic II.

Deltamarin will be responsible for coordinating the various parties involved in the project including the shipyard, architects, interior designers and operations managers. They will also undertake a full review of the Titanic II project to ensure the vessel will be compliant with all current safety and construction regulations. The team are looking forward to meeting again with other key suppliers in the coming weeks to finalise plans for ship construction.

“I wish to thank you so much for an evening I will never forget last weekend”

April is an important month in the remembrance of the Titanic, as another year passes in her story. The loss of the Titanic changed maritime laws forever and it was 100 years ago in April that the International Ice Patrol was established which has helped keep people safe on journeys in the North Atlantic. The continued improvement in maritime safety will ensure passenger safety is at the heart of every new shipbuilding endeavour, largely due to Titanic.

Blue Star Line have enjoyed continued praise from our Titanic Launch events and we are thrilled that people are still talking about them. Below are some comments from guests who attended events around the world.

“What a spectacular evening on Saturday! I was so impressed with the magnificent presentation. You can be justly proud of the manner in which the large group of people were handled. The food, wine and hospitality in general were excellent.”

If you attended one of the events, be sure to view all the photos which can be found on our website under the gallery tab. Stay tuned as we release the details of the next events in the Titanic journey which will happen over the next few months.

Time Running out for SS United States, Join in and to Protect our Heritage

As we begin week 4 of our SOS Campaign, we also commemorate the 101st anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic. Had the SSUnited States encountered the iceberg that felled theTitanic, we like to think that "America's Flagship" - the safest and most technologically advanced passenger ship ever built - would have sunk the iceberg!

However, the SSUnited States is approaching her own metaphorical iceberg - funds must be raised this spring to keep her afloat until a restoration and redevelopment plans are finalized, or she, too, will be lost forever. We need "all hands on deck" to help ensure that the SSUnited States can turn in time.

We are so encouraged by our progress so far - during the campaign's first three weeks, we've raised almost $64,000! Our grassroots supporters hail from all 50 US states and over 22 countries, a testament to how many thousands of lives this ship has touched.

Thanks so much for your continued help in spreading the word and joining the effort. Those of you in the New York and Northern New Jersey area, please consider joining us for a very important RALLY IN HERALD SQUARE in mid-town Manhattan this Friday - details are below. Also, if you haven't already done so, please become a Conservancy member, contribute to our interactive and innovative crowdfunding campaign at SavetheUnitedStates.org, attend our benefit events, and volunteer.

We can't thank you enough for your continued support!

Titanic II Update

What an exciting few months for Blue Star Line and Titanic II.

We were very busy finalising plans for our Global Launch which saw us host gala events in Macau (China), New York (USA), Halifax (Canada), London (UK) and Southampton (UK) in February and March this year.

The Titanic II project has really captured the world’s imagination, resulting in an overwhelming response from both the general public and the media. Furthermore, it was a social media sensation, trending globally on Twitter and finishing the week in the US ranked second only to the Oscars.

Media exposure for the three weeks of our launch generated in excess of $AUD500 million dollars of exposure in TV, print and online channels, which is a great way to set sail on the Titanic II journey.

We have an extensive program of activities lined up for the coming months and years leading up to the launch of Titanic II in 2016 and beyond, so stay tuned and be among the first to hear about Titanic II, the return of a legend.

Our team has put together a short video of a performance by McGuiness and Co, live at the New York Gala Dinner. The song titled ‘The Spirit of Yesterday’ was written for the Titanic II launch events and was performed at the gala dinners around the world.

“To be given this amazing opportunity was always going to come out in song in some way. "The Spirit of Yesterday" is the story of the history and future of the Titanic legend.” Dave Mannion Composer

We have also compiled performance videos from our special guests; singer Roxy Darr and guitarist Sungha Jung as they performed the Titanic Theme Song, ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at the world launch in New York.

Roxy is one of the world’s most gifted up and coming performers who is blessed with an amazing vocal range. Sungha, at just 16-years-old, is destined for great things and has already amassed an incredible 650 million hits on his YouTube channel.

Mr Palmer said the band, which had been together for four years, perfectly suited the Titanic’s “true atmospherics”.

“They’re very good,” he said.

“Dave Mannion, who is a guitarist in the band, wrote a song called The Spirit which was written for the occasion and played at the Gala.

“Some of the band members have ancestors who worked on docks in Belfast where Titanic was built so it was very moving to watch.”

McGuinness & Co singer Ken O’Flaherty said performing at the Gala had been a great opportunity and a very overwhelming experience.

“Success is when opportunity meets preparation,” Mr Flaherty said.

“And we’d all been preparing a long time for this. We all have Irish ancestry so the performance really hit close to home.”

Exclusive: Titanic II Project Moves Ahead with Clive Palmer

Clive Palmer

Aboard the Intrepid in Manhattan on Tuesday, Professor Clive Palmer, along with representatives from Finnish marine consultant Deltamarin, announced the Titanic II project was taking shape and the official signing of a construction contract with a Chinese shipyard could happen as soon as next week.

Palmer and Blue Star Line currently have a memorandum of understanding with CSC shipyard for the 2,435-passenger vessel.

The ship, built as a modern version to the original specs, but meeting current SOLAS rules, will be run under the Blue Star Line, the cruise company created by mining tycoon Palmer to operate the Titanic II.

“We will complete the original journey and sail into New York,” said Palmer, at a packed press conference, who added that over 40,000 people have registered for updates to buy tickets online.

As far as financing goes, Palmer dodged questions on the price of the project, but stressed he was using his own money. The yard, CSC, is also building four 60,000-ton bulk carriers for the Australian billionaire.

“I’m not going to divulge cost, this is not about money, I can pay for this,” he said, adding: “We have a big pile of money and will keep spending it until we get there.”

Titanic II Dinner Date March 8, 2013

Join the SS United States Conservancy for an evening dinner at Riverbend Country Club
in Great Falls, Virginia on Friday, March 8th. Invitation and details to follow.

TITANIC FEVER HITS MACAU

Australian billionaire businessman and Chairman of shipping company Blue Star Line, Professor Clive Palmer, declared to the world in April 2012 his intention to build Titanic II after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with state-owned Chinese company CSC Jinling Shipyard.

In December 2012 he announced he will bring the Titanic II World Tour and road show to Macau, including a black tie Gala Dinner at The Venetian for more than 500 guests.

Professor Palmer said while Titanic was not scheduled to visit China or Asia, Titanic II’s ties with China will be significant.

“I have commissioned CSC Jinling Shipyard to build and coordinate the construction of Titanic II in China,” he said.

“This signifies the future relationship between Titanic II and China, as Titanic II offers a tremendous opportunity for CSC Jinling to showcase their abilities and grow their business, as well as establish China in the luxury cruise ship market.”

Professor Palmer said Titanic will be remembered when guests meet to enjoy the same lavish eleven course menu as first class passenger did on April 14, 1912.

“Guests to the dinner will receive free entry to Titanic the Exhibition, which is currently visiting The Venetian,” he said.

Titanic the Exhibition features highly-detailed and accurate replicas of 400 artefacts recovered from Titanic’s wreckage and housed in galleries to resemble various iconic sections of the ship.

Titanic the Exhibition at The Venetian Macau takes visitors of all ages through key milestones in the ship’s timeless story, from its conception and construction, to life on board the ship, the ill-fated sinking and the wreckage, as well as sharing the incredible stories of its passengers and crew.

He said the Titanic II gala dinner and road show in Macau will also take guests on a journey remembering and honouring the original vessel,” he said.

“Not only do we want to take our dinner guests through an extraordinary journey of culinary delight, first class elegance and entertainment, we also want our guests to know that the relationship between Titanic II and China is an important one,” Professor Palmer said.
“Titanic II, upon completion, is scheduled to set sail from China to Southampton in 2016 before commencing her maiden passenger voyage from Southampton to New York along her original route.”

Titanic II has captured the world’s imagination since Professor Palmer announced that his shipping company, Blue Star Line, would recreate the famous ship in honour of the 100 year anniversary of the launch and untimely fate of The Titanic. While every bit as luxurious as her namesake, Titanic II will have every modern amenity along with 21st century technology and the latest navigation and safety systems.

Shipping company Blue Star Line has announced a new date next year for the Macau Titanic II event as well as rescheduling five other Titanic II events around the world.

In April, 2012, Professor Clive Palmer, a leading Australian businessman and owner of Blue Star Line, declared to the world his intention to build Titanic II, a full-scale recreation of the world’s most famous cruise liner.

The six Titanic II events were originally scheduled to take place in December, 2012. However, following the devastation caused in New York and along the east coast of the United States by Hurricane Sandy the decision was made to postpone all events until 2013.

World Project Director of Titanic II, Ms Baljeet Singh, said the Macau event will be held at the Venetian on Saturday, February 16, 2013.

In April, 2012, Blue Star Line signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chinese company CSC Jinling to build Titanic II, and since then plans for the ship have been commenced by Finnish-based marine design and engineering company Deltamarin.

Ms Singh said Blue Star Line was thrilled to appoint CSC Jinling, which was founded in 1952, to build the Titanic replica.

“CSC Jinling has delivered and exported hundreds of big vessels to their buyers in more than 20 countries and regions and maintains a high reputation in both the domestic and international shipbuilding industry,” she said.

“Their high quality product includes RORO vessels, oil and chemical tankers, platform supply vessels, container vessels, multi-purpose vessels, bulk carriers and floating docks and semi-submarine barges.

“Titanic II offers a tremendous opportunity for CSC Jinling to showcase their abilities and grow their business in the luxury market.”

Titanic II is scheduled to set sail from Southampton to New York on her maiden passenger voyage in 2016.

NEW DATE FOR TITANIC II BOSTON EVENT

Shipping company Blue Star Line has announced a new date next year for the Boston Titanic II event and has also rescheduled five other Titanic II events around the world.

Professor Palmer said the Boston breakfast will be held at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum on Monday, February 25, 2013.

Professor Palmer said although the RMS Titanic on her maiden voyage in April, 1912, was never scheduled to visit Boston, the city is very much touched by her legacy.

“The demise of the original ship led to the establishment of the International Ice Patrol, which marks and forecasts the movement of icebergs and has been managed by the US Coast Guard from the northeast district of the United States since 1913,” he said.

“The patrol makes the navigable waterways of the North Atlantic a safer environment for all vessels heading in and out of the US.

“While looking ahead to the exciting Titanic II project we shall pay tribute to the skill and courage of the US Coast guard crews who protect these vital international routes.”

NEW DATES FOR HALIFAX'S TITANIC BREAKFAST

Shipping company Blue Star Line has announced the rescheduled date for the formal Titanic II breakfast in the Canadian port city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, as well as rescheduling five other Titanic II events around the world.

Professor Palmer said the Halifax breakfast will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Lord Nelson Hotel.

Professor Palmer said Halifax has been central to Titanic’s story for over a century.

“Halifax became the final resting place for many who did not survive the 1912 disaster and a beacon of hope for those who did,” he said.

“While looking ahead to the exciting Titanic II project, we shall commemorate the past by paying tribute to the courage of passengers, crew and artisans who contributed so much to the original vessel.”

NEW DATES FOR TITANIC II BREAKFAST IN SOUTHAMPTON

Shipping company Blue Star Line has announced a new date for the Southampton Breakfast at The Grand Cafe and has also rescheduled five other Titanic II events around the world.

Professor Palmer said the Southampton Breakfast will now be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at The Grand Cafe.

Professor Palmer said Southampton has been central to Titanic and her story for over a century.

“She began her ill-fated journey from the city’s port and more than five hundred Southampton families were tragically touched by the 1912 disaster,” he said.

“While looking ahead to the exciting Titanic II project we shall commemorate the past by paying tribute to the courage of passengers, crew and artisans who contributed so much to the ship of dreams.”

Titanic II is scheduled to set sail from Southampton to New York on her maiden passenger voyage in 2016.

Hurricane Sandy Causes Rescheduling Of Titanic II Launch

MEDIA RELEASE
09 November 2012

The global launch of Titanic II scheduled for December 4, 2012, on the retired aircraft carrier USS Intrepid in New York will be rescheduled for early 2013 as a mark of respect to the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Blue Star Line Chairman Professor Clive Palmer said Hurricane Sandy caused serious damage to New York and loss of life.

He said he would reschedule the launch to late February, 2013, while other Titanic II events due to be held in London and Southampton in England, Boston in the United States, Nova Scotia in Canada and in Macau have also been postponed until that time.

“Mayor Michael Bloomberg cancelled the city’s world renowned New York Marathon last weekend as he didn’t want a cloud to hang over the event in the wake of the hurricane and the damage it inflicted,” Professor Palmer said.

“New York had a close relationship with the original RMS Titanic and the shipping company White Star Line and we believe it is too early to be holding our launch while the city and the region continues its recovery.”

Dates for the rescheduled Titanic II events will be released in the next few weeks.
