Australian businessman and owner of Blue Star Cruise Line, Professor Clive Palmer has taken to YouTube and Twitter to praise singer/songwriter Roxy Darr for her performance at the recent Titanic II launch in New York.
The black-tie gala event held on-board retired aircraft carrier USS Intrepid where a who’s who of world leaders, senior diplomats and major political figures were treated to a lavish 11-course menu, first class entertainment and the unveiling of Titanic II blueprints.
Professor Palmer was so impressed with Ms Darr’s performance on the night that he uploaded a video of her performance onto social networking site Vimeo.
He described her rendition of My Heart Will Go On as “wonderful” on Twitter and shared a link to her performance in New York.
The talented artist has toured over 50 cities nationwide and has been commended by many industry professionals including Kara DiGuardi (American Idol) and Steve Binder (Elvis Comeback).
Following her performance on the night, Ms Darr tweeted, “Titanic II, making dreams come true… Thank You!”
She said the Titanic II launch was one of the most fabulous things in which she’d ever participated.
“Everyone was dressed so elegantly and the whole night was an absolute dream come true, and my first gala,” Ms Darr said.
“I am honoured that I was given the opportunity to perform at such a significant event in history.
“The Gala really brought the Titanic II to life and I can’t wait to see the final product.”
Other entertainers at the Gala included Glenn Shorrock, an iconic Australian singer-songwriter who was a founding member of pop groups The Twilights, Axiom and Little River Band, and South Korean YouTube sensation, Sungha Jung, a 17 year old guitarist who has attracted millions of viewers online from around the world with his acoustic guitar covers.

Titanic II has captured the world’s imagination since Professor Palmer announced that his shipping company, Blue Star Line, would recreate the famous ship in honour of the 100 year anniversary of the launch and untimely fate of The Titanic. While every bit as luxurious as her namesake, Titanic II will have every modern amenity along with 21st century technology and the latest navigation and safety systems.
