Barcelona-based shipping and logistics group Transcoma has started a new daily fast passenger-only ferry service between Algeciras , Spain and the British Crown Colony of Gibraltar. The new service started on 15 October and is the first time that the two ports have been linked by a ferry service in 40 years.
Transcoma is operating the 22m, 150 passenger capacity newbuild catamaran Punta Europe II on the new service, which offers four return trips a day with a crossing time of just 20 mins. The new ferry service is being aimed at workers who commute from Spain to Gibraltar , as well as tourists, as she has a glass bottom.
