Written by Jerick Sablan, Pacific Sunday News, warns the public of a cruise ship scan that has hit the area once again in Guam . . .
"Local residents should be wary of a cruise ship scam.
The Office of the Attorney General is warning residents to be cautious about callers offering prizes from cruise ships.
It's a scam that is resurfacing due to the recent arrival of the Sun Princess, according to a press release from the AG's office.
Over the last several months, local residents have been contacted by various fake travel agencies -- largely Malaysian based -- inviting them to "promotion parties" at various beach locations around the island. From there, the residents would receive a "prize." The catch comes when the scammer asks for a person's personal identity information, such as a Social Security number or credit card number."
