Giant Ice Island Breaks from Greenland Glacier

Greenland Expedition: Where Ice Is Born 
Researchers at the University of Delaware last Thursday were the first to announce that a massive "ice island" had calved off Greenland's Petermann Glacier about 620 miles south of the North Pole. The "ice island", which is about four times the size of Manhattan, is the largest to break from a glacier in the region since 1962.
