US Secretary of State signals Trump to take tougher stance on Havana

-->
The US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson commented recently that a policy of engagement with Cuba has financially benefited Havana in violation of US law.

Such statements tend to suggest that President Donald Trump may consider rolling back parts of former president Obama’s policy of improving relations with Havana. This in turn could impact a long list of Cruise Lines planning to call to Cuba in the coming years

Tillerson also said that Havana has benefited economically from the normalization of ties, but suggested that Washington had accomplished very little in terms of changing the attitudes and behavior of the Cuban regime.

Moving forward, Trump is expected to announce his new Cuba policy on a trip to Miami, which is set for the 16th of June 2017.
