New Dates for Titanic II Events

NEW DATE FOR TITANIC II MACAU EVENT

Shipping company Blue Star Line has announced a new date next year for the Macau Titanic II event as well as rescheduling five other Titanic II events around the world.

In April, 2012, Professor Clive Palmer, a leading Australian businessman and owner of Blue Star Line, declared to the world his intention to build Titanic II, a full-scale recreation of the world’s most famous cruise liner.

The six Titanic II events were originally scheduled to take place in December, 2012. However, following the devastation caused in New York and along the east coast of the United States by Hurricane Sandy the decision was made to postpone all events until 2013.

World Project Director of Titanic II, Ms Baljeet Singh, said the Macau event will be held at the Venetian on Saturday, February 16, 2013.

In April, 2012, Blue Star Line signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chinese company CSC Jinling to build Titanic II, and since then plans for the ship have been commenced by Finnish-based marine design and engineering company Deltamarin.

Ms Singh said Blue Star Line was thrilled to appoint CSC Jinling, which was founded in 1952, to build the Titanic replica.

“CSC Jinling has delivered and exported hundreds of big vessels to their buyers in more than 20 countries and regions and maintains a high reputation in both the domestic and international shipbuilding industry,” she said.

“Their high quality product includes RORO vessels, oil and chemical tankers, platform supply vessels, container vessels, multi-purpose vessels, bulk carriers and floating docks and semi-submarine barges.

“Titanic II offers a tremendous opportunity for CSC Jinling to showcase their abilities and grow their business in the luxury market.”

Titanic II is scheduled to set sail from Southampton to New York on her maiden passenger voyage in 2016.

NEW DATE FOR TITANIC II BOSTON EVENT

Shipping company Blue Star Line has announced a new date next year for the Boston Titanic II event and has also rescheduled five other Titanic II events around the world.

Professor Palmer said the Boston breakfast will be held at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum on Monday, February 25, 2013.

Professor Palmer said although the RMS Titanic on her maiden voyage in April, 1912, was never scheduled to visit Boston, the city is very much touched by her legacy.

“The demise of the original ship led to the establishment of the International Ice Patrol, which marks and forecasts the movement of icebergs and has been managed by the US Coast Guard from the northeast district of the United States since 1913,” he said.

“The patrol makes the navigable waterways of the North Atlantic a safer environment for all vessels heading in and out of the US.

“While looking ahead to the exciting Titanic II project we shall pay tribute to the skill and courage of the US Coast guard crews who protect these vital international routes.”

NEW DATES FOR HALIFAX'S TITANIC BREAKFAST

Shipping company Blue Star Line has announced the rescheduled date for the formal Titanic II breakfast in the Canadian port city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, as well as rescheduling five other Titanic II events around the world.

Professor Palmer said the Halifax breakfast will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Lord Nelson Hotel.

Professor Palmer said Halifax has been central to Titanic’s story for over a century.

“Halifax became the final resting place for many who did not survive the 1912 disaster and a beacon of hope for those who did,” he said.

“While looking ahead to the exciting Titanic II project, we shall commemorate the past by paying tribute to the courage of passengers, crew and artisans who contributed so much to the original vessel.”

NEW DATES FOR TITANIC II BREAKFAST IN SOUTHAMPTON

Shipping company Blue Star Line has announced a new date for the Southampton Breakfast at The Grand Cafe and has also rescheduled five other Titanic II events around the world.

Professor Palmer said the Southampton Breakfast will now be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at The Grand Cafe.

Professor Palmer said Southampton has been central to Titanic and her story for over a century.

“She began her ill-fated journey from the city’s port and more than five hundred Southampton families were tragically touched by the 1912 disaster,” he said.

“While looking ahead to the exciting Titanic II project we shall commemorate the past by paying tribute to the courage of passengers, crew and artisans who contributed so much to the ship of dreams.”

Titanic II is scheduled to set sail from Southampton to New York on her maiden passenger voyage in 2016.

Titanic II has captured the world’s imagination since Professor Palmer announced that his shipping company, Blue Star Line, would recreate the famous ship in honour of the 100 year anniversary of the launch and untimely fate of The Titanic. While every bit as luxurious as her namesake, Titanic II will have every modern amenity along with 21st century technology and the latest navigation and safety systems.
