Giving back to the community - the caring side of the Cruise Industry!

Cruise ship bashing is common around the world and it's all too easy for people to generalize by saying that Cruise Lines take advantage of the destinations they frequent. The reality is however that the Cruise Industry stimulates the local economy, provides jobs, generates wealth, stimulates Tourism and cross cultures activities.

These days Cruise Lines are going going the extra mile the world's leading group Carnival realizes the need to engage with the community, by supporting worthy causes. What's more the Crew n board Cruise ships are now getting involved, which is genuinely encouraging.

By way of a recent example, Inchcape Charleston arranged a collection of 50 Teddy Bears, all of which were purchased by a collective Crew initiative on board the Carnival Fantasy. The Teddy Bears were donated to the Medical University’s Children Hospital on January 13, 2015. In reality these Teddy Bears will be given to children who are sick and require urgent care for critical illnesses. Ms. Barbra Rivers of the MUSC Children’s Hospital gracefully accepted the donation from Captain  Stefano Battinelli of the Carnival Fantasy.

There is nothing like a Teddy Bear to bring a smile to a very sick child’s face! This is actually the second donation to the MUSC Children’s Hospital. The first one was arranged by Gary Santos of Inchcape in Charlston which consistent of stuffed toys from the coin operated machines on board the Carnival Fantasy.

There are multiple other community, voluntarism projects and charity initiatives taking place all over the world which are stimulated by Cruise Lines, which demonstrate the Industry has a heart!
