For many Off Radar readers, this will come quite as a shock, as one of the world's leading cruise ships luxury-wise didn't manage to pass an important health inspection conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The U.S. Centers gave a failed score of 84% to the Silver Shadow, which well known for its luxurious and incredibly expensive all-suite style. A score below 86% is considered a failure and pretty bad by all accounts in cruising circles.
This will alarm many readers as the Silver Shadow scored as high as 95% to 99% for the last 6 inspections conducted by the same health agency.
The health inspection took place more than a month ago, but this reality didn't come to light until now.
Silversea Cruises, in an official statement sent to US Today, expressed its disappointment and announced it has taken immediate measures.
Our recommendation is for all Crew to be trained in HACCP for on board Cruise Ships, as its the best process to manage Sanitation. For more information read this HACCP Sanitation.
