Cruise Industry's Annual Report to Reach $48 billion by 2025

While Asia has shown a slow but steady growth in the last years, the traditionally cruise markets are still on a decreasing trend.

Furthermore, there is hope for more potential in North America, as there has been an increase of passengers number.
If 18 million more Europeans start going on cruise holidays as it has been estimated, the world fleet would have to double.

Based on financial analysts and cruise line executive, an average annual industry-wide growth pace of about 3% will lead to more than 25 million passengers by 2020 and nearly 30 million by 2025.

Let's get some perspective here: 30 million passengers spending on average $1,600 each translates into $48 billion out of the $1 trillion the UNTWO claimed for tourism spending in 2011 – or 4.8% of the total global tourism market.

This doesn't even take into account China and the rest of developing Asian countries.
