We are thrilled to announce the first of a series of ten night river cruises on the Nile from Cairo to Aswan on board the luxury Sanctuary Sun Boat III, departing on August 19th 2012.This spectacular route has now been re-opened by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism after 15 years of closure, allowing guests access to an unprecedented array of Egypt's ancient wonders. The banks of the river are dotted with ancient temples and tombs the journey between Cairo and Aswan is steeped in history.
Some of the highlights along this re-opened stretch of the river include the ruins of Tuna el-Gebel, which is the resting place for thousands of mummies of falcons, baboons and ibises. Guests can also experience the 2000-year-old rock tombs of Beni Hassan and the white limestone temple at Abydos, the centre of the holy city unusually dedicated to Osiris, Lord of the Netherworld.
