Submitted by CE-Press The CruiseSthlm app, launched last year by the Ports of Stockholm, shows vessels in port, as well as those due to arrive into Stockholm and Nynashamn. It also shows which berths the vessels occupy. Information is updated every five miutes and is free of charge for iPhone, iPad and Android.
So far more than 2,000 units have been downloaded and even in the off-season users keep downloading it, according to Jorun Nikander, communications officer Ports of Stockholm.
The aim is to give people work in connection with the cruiseships - such as taxi drivers, restaurants, buses, shopkeepers etc - a tool which gives them information on a ship’s arrival in port and where it will be docked.
However Nikander says: “It can also be used for fun. The inhabitants of Stockholm often wonder which vessel they see.”
