European Waterways is offering a Christmas or New Year’s cruise on the River Thames aboard the eight-passenger Magna Carta hotel barge. The four-night Christmas cruise departs on Dec. 24 after tea at the Stafford Hotel. Once onboard, guests sip champagne, mulled wine and other libations.
Entertainment will include actors who will drop by for select readings from “A Christmas Carol.” There will also be an optional Christmas Eve Mass, and guests can also attend the traditional service in Westminster Abbey on Christmas Day. The five-night New Year’s cruise aboard the Magna Carta, also available as a charter, begins Dec. 28 with traditional afternoon tea at the Stafford Hotel.
Highlights will include Runnymede, where the sealing in 1215 of the Magna Carta took place; a New Year’s Eve party; and an optional visit to English painter Sir Stanley Spencer’s art gallery. Fares for the Christmas or New Year full-boat charter cruise start at $30,200.
